Federal Way man charged with vehicular homicide after pedestrian killed on roadway

A Federal Way man has been charged with vehicular homicide after police say he hit a woman on the side of the road, and was believed to be impaired by alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash.

Puyallup police were called to the 300 block of 39th Ave. SW on Oct. 28, just before 11:30 p.m. for reports of a woman that had been hit by a car. When officers arrived, they found her down in the roadway. Lifesaving attempts on the 54-year-old woman were unsuccessful.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the woman was driving eastbound on 39th Ave. SW when her vehicle stopped in the outside lane for unknown reasons.  The woman exited her car and appeared to have been hit in the inside eastbound lane by the driver now charged.

He has been booked into jail on vehicular homicide.
