NEWS

Executive Producer

FOX 13 and FOX 13+, the FOX Owned & Operated duopoly in Seattle, is seeking an experienced journalist and newsroom manager to lead our nightside news team. The Executive Producer will be responsible for supervising the producing teams on the early evening and late news block, as well as directly managing the editorial direction and overall execution of FOX 13’s late news block, 9:00PM to 11:30PM.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise a team of Producers, Associate Producers, and Writers to produce compelling and visually appealing news programs.
  • Ensure that news content is balanced, accurate, and meets the station's standards for high quality and journalistic integrity.
  • Lead editorial calls, manage rundowns, approve scripts, and contribute to other newsroom planning.
  • Work with primary hosts, contributing reporters, and other newsroom journalists to plan content and production of news programs.
  • Set weekly production schedules including scheduling editing time and planning shoots with photojournalists.
  • Recruit, train, and develop News staff.
  • Manage, evaluate, and monitor employee performance on an ongoing basis.
  • Demonstrate responsibility for all equipment issued by FOX.
  • Comply with all FOX Corporate computer requirements.
  • Comply with all FOX Corporate and station policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of development and execution of local newscasts, criminal law, public records, investigative reporting, court systems, and government agencies.
  • Strong digital footprint and understanding of how to leverage content in the digital space to enhance broadcast products.
  • Strong writing and copy-editing abilities
  • Proficiency with MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently under daily pressure and successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may require nights, early mornings, weekends, holidays, and emergency scenarios.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a TV newsroom as a major market producer or smaller market news manager.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Radio/TV, or related discipline preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working at a computer.
  • Regularly stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The general schedule for this position is nightside Sunday to Thursday. However, the news is a 24/7 world that could include other shifts or additional hours to accommodate breaking news, vacation relief or other events, as news warrants.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $110,000.00-119,000.00 annually for Washington. News Associate Producer

FOX 13 and FOX Local, the FOX Owned & Operated duopoly in Seattle, is seeking a dynamic newscast Associate Producer to join our team. Our producers contribute to the full editorial process in our newsroom – from the first editorial call to the moment a live newscast wraps up.

The producers at FOX 13 are top-tier journalists who have a passion for news in the Pacific Northwest – and around the world. Our producers are not "show stackers" – they are creative and curious journalists who think outside the box when building a newscast and come to the table every day with compelling stories to pursue. Producers play a critical role in determining how the news is presented, which involves strategic story placement within the rundown, as well as crisp, clear writing for the anchors to deliver.

Job Duties

The Associate Producer assists in producing news content by performing the following duties:

  • Writes stories for broadcast, web and social as assigned.
  • Creates graphics and other preproduction elements.
  • Views video and chooses sound.
  • Acts as liaison to Reporters in the field by providing research and material as requested.
  • Fills in for Producers as assigned.
  • Stays informed of current news, actively gathering information online and in partnership with the assignment desk.
  • Reports to work to assist with Newscasts outside the normal work schedule at times of severe weather conditions and/or breaking news.
  • Demonstrates responsibility for any and all equipment issued by Fox.
  • Meets all scheduling and content deadlines.
  • Attends and participates in all scheduled meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Anchor/Reporter

FOX 13 and FOX 13+, the Fox O&O duopoly in Seattle, Washington is seeking a News Anchor/Reporter to join our news team. The ideal candidate will possess strong presentation skills with the ability to enterprise unique stories as well as cover breaking and hard news.  Strong live skills are required.  The candidate will display professionalism and personality both on and off air.

This position requires a strong work ethic, broad knowledge of current affairs and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.  In addition, this anchor/reporter must develop sources, and pitch compelling, enterprise stories.  Candidates must have proven presence on social media and be as comfortable in the social media world as they are in broadcasting.   The candidate must operate with a high degree of journalistic ethics, emotional intelligence and must demonstrate the ability to develop and nurture a natural connection to people and the community.

You must be a self-starter with a great attitude and a desire to win.  We require that you are able to work independently in a high pressure, fast-paced environment, gathering information to discern the news worthiness of events. When anchoring, you should be engaging with your co-anchors and the viewer. You should be able to go off-script in breaking news situations and not worry about a TelePrompTer. When reporting, you will research thoroughly, write clearly, and produce stories that are compelling and memorable. You must be a voracious news consumer, engaged in our community and participate in station sponsored events.  Other duties as assigned and deemed appropriate.

Prefer a minimum of five years’ experience at a local television broadcast media outlet as an anchor/reporter producing and delivering local content.  Must have excellent editorial judgment and have the ability to produce content on all newsroom platforms, including television and digital media.  Must have strong interpersonal skills with colleagues and interviewees. This is a full-time position with a regular schedule, but the news is a 24/7 environment which could mean occasional other shifts as news events or staffing needs warrant. Must have valid credit card and driver's license.

CREATIVE SERVICES & MARKETING

Graphic Designer

FOX 13 and FOX Local in Seattle is looking for a Graphic Designer to join their team. You will work with the Marketing, Sales, and News Departments to create attention-grabbing designs for digital, on-air, and sales campaigns. This will include both original work – logos, animations, brand elements – and creative briefs, which will then be passed to our Graphics Hub for execution. You will need to be both a creative leader and collaborator who stays up to date with current design trends, especially on digital and social platforms.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Receive, research, and fulfill all graphics requests and follow through to completion and delivery.
  • Design Creative Briefs for projects with Marketing Leadership when necessary.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all production relating to graphics at all times.
  • Determine which projects will be created in-house or sourced to the Graphics Hub.
  • Communicate daily with Marketing Manager, Marketing Director, and Producers to ensure proper scheduling and tracking of projects.
  • Communicate with appropriate technical personnel to ensure proper delivery of graphics.
  • Assist assigned Graphics Hub designers by supplying all necessary information for projects and minimize repetitive work.
  • Deal with day-to-day operations of all productions in progress and daily graphics requests.
  • Assist producers in timely delivery of all graphics.
  • Possess strong attention to detail.
  • Portfolio of excellent design and animation skills.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere, and PowerPoint.
  • Cinema 4D and 3D experience a major plus.
  • Strong understanding of on-air graphic systems, including StudioClips, Chyron and Axis.
  • In-depth working knowledge of all digital graphic file formats and their appropriate applications.
  • Strong working knowledge of all department technologies relating to file transfer from studio to remote production units.
  • Ability to accurately QC elements both on broadcast and digital formats.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues with graphics playout systems and file sharing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all departments.
  • Strong understanding of time management techniques, with ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may require nights, early mornings, weekends, holidays, and emergency scenarios.

ADMINISTRATIVE

Executive Assistant

The Executive Assistant handles all administrative duties for the SVP/General Manager including travel and expenses, meeting coordination, invoicing for administrative costs, and ordering supplies. This position also supports executives in News, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and Human Resources.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following duties.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support to the SVP/General Manager including calendar management, meeting planning, travel arrangements, general office duties, and greeting guests.
  • Answer all incoming calls and ensure that messages are accurate and delivered in a timely fashion.
  • Conduct web research and analysis for various projects.
  • Create and manage databases and reports.
  • Coordinate C-level meetings, activities, and employee events.
  • Manage complex schedules, coordinate travel, draft and edit correspondence and official documentation, and process expenses.
  • Manage executive staff requests for supplies, administer department invoices, schedule meetings and conference rooms, and handle all logistical needs related to office operations.
  • Create and distribute program scheduling and analysis reports for Sales, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, etc.
  • Collaborate with Traffic to manage station programming.
  • Complete research projects as assigned.
  • Manage department inbox and respond to general queries.
  • Demonstrate responsibility for all equipment issued by FOX.

Required Skills and Abilities
