BELFAIR, Wash. – Mason County Sheriff’s Deputies made a gruesome discovery Wednesday morning in connection to the disappearance of 89-year-old Robert Hood.

Investigators located a dead body stuffed into a container inside a home on the 300 block of Northeast Santa Maria Lane in Belfair.

Sheriff’s detectives in Kitsap County believe Hood is the victim of a violent robbery, which happened at his home in Silverdale.  Five people have already been arrested in the case.

Detectives are searching for another man, 47-year-old Arnold Cruz who is known to police, and believed to be involved in Hood’s disappearance.

People in the small Belfair neighborhood knew something was wrong when swarms of police surrounded the home.

“People were saying a body was found,” said neighbor Lisa McFarland. “I locked my doors, the first thing I did.”

Police said the medical examiner will later determine the identity of the person.
