Police searching for person who threw Molotov cocktail at area Safeway

SEATTLE -- Police and fire investigators are looking for the person who threw a "Molotov cocktail type device" at a Greenwood Safeway Monday night.

A witness told investigators they saw a person throw a burning bottle against the side of the brick building around 7 p.m. Monday in the 8700 block of Greenwood Avenue North.

The bottle bounced on the sidewalk and rolled into the bushes, where a small bush lit on fire. The witness grabbed a fire extinguisher and put out the small blaze.

The store didn't suffer any significant damage, investigators said.

The Seattle Police Department and Arson Bomb Squad is investigating the incident.
