Loved ones plea with man as he Facebooks his own police standoff

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- A Bakersfield, California man kept his friends and loved ones on edge Tuesday as he posted live updates about his standoff with police to his Facebook page.

Darren Aldridge refused to come out of his home Tuesday afternoon after The California Highway Patrol and U.S. Marshals tried to serve a warrant to Aldridge on a weapons related charge, Bakersfield Now reports. Shortly after refusing to surrender, Aldridge fired a couple of shots into the street.

Aldridge took to his Facebook page after firing the shots, posting seven comments that ranged from brief updates about his situation to thanking his friends and family for sticking with him.

Some of his posts garnered more than 100 comments, with most encouraging Aldridge to give up peacefully.

"Prayers to you," Judi Akins Papagni wrote.

Others encouraged Aldridge to give up for the safety of others.

"My four year old daughter is the school nearest you," one mother wrote. "Please surrender."

According to Bakersfield Now, Aldridge surrendered peacefully at 12:30 p.m. A woman also came out of the trailer.

It was not immediately known if Aldride will face any more charges due to the police standoff.
