Idaho state board says no to alcohol at college football tailgates

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — College football tailgates must stay alcohol-free despite a University of Idaho proposal.

KTVB-TV reports the state education board voted 4-4 on the policy change that would have allowed alcohol to be consumed in designated areas and campus parking lots before kickoff at Boise State, the University of Idaho and Idaho State.

Board spokesman Blake Youde said a majority vote was needed to change the policy.

He said safety was among the concerns for opponents.

Youde said it's unlikely the board will revisit the issue at their next meeting in October.
