Kari Smith: WMW viewers help identify accused storage burglar -- now she needs to be caught

kari 2WANTED IN KENT -- Thanks to you, Kent police have identified one of the women wanted in a storage burglary. Now, they think she's in Spokane and they're asking for your help finding her. Take a look at the difference between Kari Smith’s driver's license photo from 2012 and a recent mug shot of her. Detectives say that's what drugs will do to you. Smith was caught on surveillance video with two other people using a fake ID to rent a storage unit so they could come back later to break into other units. "She completed the paperwork. By that evening, their gate code was used, and a Uhaul enters, leaves about an hour later,” says Kent Det. Melanie Frazier. “The next morning it's identified that six units were burglarized. Stolen items consisted of electronics as well as furniture. Big items, small items, as well as guitars and things of that nature.” Kari Smith has two outstanding warrants for her arrest: One in Seattle for forgery, the other in Tukwila for theft, and Kent police are filing new ID theft and forgery charges this week. Again, police believe she may be in the Spokane area.
