Star defender stays in NFC West, heads to rival

SAN FRANCISCO -- Star defensive end Darnell Dockett will stay in the NFC west next season, but he's not headed to the Seahawks.

Dockett, 33, signed a two year, $7.5 million contract with the San Francisco 49ers early Thursday, his agent said on Twitter.

ESPN's Adam Schefter said the contract comes with $2 million guaranteed.

Dockett was released by the Arizona Cardinals Friday. He missed all of the 2014 season after tearing his ACL during training camp. He finishes his 11-year run with the Cardinals with 459 tackles and 40.5 sacks.
