Sounders FC's Clint Dempsey to undergo evaluations for irregular heartbeat



SEATTLE -- Star Sounders FC forward Clint Dempsey is undergoing medical evaluations for an irregular heartbeat, and will miss Sunday's match against the Portland Timbers, the team announced Friday.

Few details of Dempsey's condition -- including its severity -- were immediately released.

Dempsey has played four seasons with the Sounders, coming from the English Premier League Tottenham Hotspur in 2013. The 33-year-old has 37 goals and 23 assists in his MLS career.
