Worker injured in Everett Boeing plant accident dies

EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — A worker for a Boeing supplier has died, weeks after sustaining injuries while working on a passenger seat inside a Boeing 777 passenger jet.

Jamco America spokeswoman Shelley Rich says technician Ken Otto died on Sunday. The Everett-based company supplies Boeing with aircraft interiors.

The Seattle Times says Otto was hurt on Nov. 13 when a passenger seat airbag inflator accidentally discharged during installation.

A second worker was treated at the scene and later released from a local hospital.

A Boeing statement said the injuries were not related to the airbag deploying, as in a passenger flight, but instead "were related to the discharge of the inflator while the system was partially disassembled."

Jamco, Boeing and the state Department of Labor and Industries are investigating the accident in Everett.
