WGN America's 'Outsiders' trailer gives a taste of Appalachian outlaw dealings

WGN America's upcoming drama "Outsiders" is nearing its January premiere and the network has released the first trailer -- giving a look at the unique world the show is set in.

"Outsiders" takes place high in the Appalachian Mountains, pitting the Farrell Clan -- a family who has spent 200 years surviving on Shay Mountain -- against a group of investors and a town looking to move them out as they expand. With David Morse starring as Big Foster, leader of the Farrells, that's not going to happen.

In that way, it has a bit of a "Sons of Anarchy" vibe to it, with a close-knit crew protecting their way of life from outsiders -- while being considered the outsiders themselves. No wonder the show is called "Outsiders." There's even a bit of "Justified's" Bennett and Crowder clans to be found in WGN America's newest drama, with both shows chronicling outlaw families' dealings in Appalachia.

Additionally, "Sons of Anarchy alum Ryan Hurst plays a big role in the star-studded cast, which also includes former "Veronica Mars" killer Kyle Gallner and "Boardwalk Empire's" Christina Jackson. Hurst should feel right at home in his new surroundings, as his trademark beard went nowhere and he's traded in his motorcycle for a quad as part of the Farrell Clan.

"Outsiders" premieres Tuesday, Jan. 26, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on WGN America.
