NEW YORK — Emmy Award-winning hair stylist Antwon Jackson has died suddenly at the age of 44, according to television host Wendy Williams and Crystal Wright, a longtime friend.
Jackson, who lived in New York City, worked as Williams' "wig-ologist" and frequently appeared on her after-show on YouTube.
Williams took to social media Tuesday to mourn Jackson.
"It is with a heavy heart that I share with all of you the death of Antwon Jackson, my wigologist. He was an Emmy winning stylist and so much more. He was my friend. He had the biggest heart and was a pleasure to work with. I will forever be thankful for your friendship and love, Antwon. Thank you for the laughter you brought into my life and your sweet smile that always brightened my day. May you rest in peace."
The details of his death were not immediately clear.
Wright told NJ.com that Jackson had recently returned from Mexico, where he was vacationing with his fiance, Dontay Savoy.
Jackson won a Daytime Emmy in 2011 for outstanding achievement in hairstyling. He was nominated again in 2012.
He leaves behind a 25-year-old son, DeAntwon Jackson.
