Washington man arrested in brutal hotel slaying of 24-year-old woman

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Police say a Washington state man has been arrested in the killing of a 24-year-old woman last month at a Portland hotel.

At the time of her death, police said Ashley Renee Benson of Vancouver, Washington, was a victim of sex trafficking but didn't know whether that was related to her killing.

Her body was found Dec. 26 in a stairwell of the DoubleTree hotel near the Lloyd Center mall.

Police said Friday that 24-year-old Tae Bum Yoon of Bellevue, Washington, was arrested Wednesday after he arrived by train at Portland's Union Station.

They didn't immediately release more details about the circumstances of her death.

Records show Yoon is a native of South Korea and is known by the first name Chris. He faces arraignment Friday on a murder charge.
