Teen suspect arrested after 17-year-old girl found dead in Edmonds

EDMONDS, Wash. -- Police arrested a juvenile suspect just days after a 17-year-old girl's body was found inside an Edmonds home.

The victim's body was discovered by a friend at an apartment complex on the 7400 block of 208th Street Southwest around 4 p.m. Friday.

Detectives said the shooting may have been accidental.

According to witness information, detectives believe a 16-year-old male suspect from Mountlake Terrace, who was a friend of the victim, could be responsible for the shooting.

A letter was sent the staff of Edmonds-Woodway High School reading in part:

"It is with great sadness that I share with you information about the death of former Edmonds-Woodway student Gala Zuehlke," the letter said. "This is a difficult time for many in our school community. To help our students and staff cope, we will have additional counseling support at school on Monday for both staff and students who were affected by Gala’s death."

Police said the investigation is still ongoing and further information would be released as appropriate.
