Tacoma firefighters put out flames at school outbuilding

Firefighters are battling a fire at a Tacoma school outbuilding.

Tacoma Fire Department reports a fire broke out at an outbuilding next to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School, near 12th Street and South Jackson Avenue.

Smoke was billowing out the roof when fire engines arrived, eventually growing into a large fire.

Crews had to vacate the building and attack the flames from the outside, and as of 8:19 a.m., the fire is under control. Officials say crews will continue working hot spots.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
