State House considers bill that would ban smoking in cars with minors

OLYMPIA- Is smoking in your car  a right or a privilege?

Washington residents could have to pay a fine if they are caught smoking in a motor vehicle with a minor inside.

The legislature is holding a public hearing Tuesday at 3:30 p.m on House Bill 2086.

It aims to ban anyone from smoking a cigarette, a pipe or cigar with a minor in the car. Violators would receive a traffic infraction.

The violation however would not show up on a driving record or reported to an insurance company.

Recently Oregon passed a similar bill making it illegal to smoke in cars to protect minors.
