Snohomish County Executive Lovick in trouble, trailing by more than 9,000 votes in bid for re-election

EVERETT, Wash. -- Snohomish County Executive John Lovick appeared to be in danger of losing his job, as County Councilman Dave Somers was leading him by 58-42 percent in Tuesday night's election results.

The difference between them was 9,350 votes.

Lovick, 64, a former sheriff, state lawmaker and Washington State Patrol official, was appointed in June 2013 to replace Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon, who resigned amid scandal. Lovick easily won election to the post in 2014.

But Lovick lost support among some County Council members, and Somers decided to challenge him for the executive's job.

More vote results will be released late Wednesday afternoon.
