Shelton man killed in 2-car crash on US 101

SHELTON, Wash. -- A 63-year-old man died in a two-car crash Wednesday morning in Mason County.

Police were called Wednesday around 7:00 a.m. to US 101 near Shelton Matlock Road.

Trooper Chelsea Hodgson said the driver of a Dodge pickup lost control while merging onto the highway, crossed the centerline and struck a Toyota Camry.

The 63-year-old driver of the Camry did not survive.

The pickup driver, a 47-year-old woman, was injured and taken to Mason General Hospital.

The Washington State Patrol said the pickup driver was going too fast for conditions.

Northbound lanes of US 101 were blocked for several hours.
