Seattle police say WMW pressure leads to surrender of accused 'Patient Pill Perp'

pillFUGITIVE CAPTURED April 17, 2014 -- Seattle police say the 'Patient Pill Perp' went into hiding after seeing himself on WMW, but the pressure became too much so he surrendered yesterday. FUGITIVE WANTED IN SEATTLE January 3, 2014 -- We’re dubbing this thief the 'Patient Pill Perp', because in both of his pharmacy robberies, he didn't mind standing around waiting patiently for several minutes for the clerk to come over. He hit a Rite Aid in West Seattle, first loitering by the counter for several minutes until the pharmacist finally came over to him. He wasn’t in a big rush -- as long as he could get his fix -- handing her a note saying he has a gun and demanding powerful pills. "The pharmacist in this case gives him the Oxycontin and then he says, ‘Wait a minute, I want some more.’ So, rather than just taking what he has, the pharmacist gets shook up and gives him a second dose before the suspect leaves,” says Ret. Det. Myrle Carner with Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound. “So, what we're trying to do is get this guy off the street because obviously if he's high and he's armed -- which he is -- we've got a dangerous situation, and somebody is going to get hurt." The thief has hit two pharmacies so far including one in Burien. Seattle detectives say he's Asian, in his mid-20's, about 5’5”, with some facial hair. He was wearing a black baseball cap with what looks like a Mariner's logo.
