Seattle police report officer-involved shooting at The Jungle

SEATTLE - Police said Tuesday afternoon that they were investigating initial reports of an officer-involved shooting at The Jungle, a homeless encampment in south Seattle that was scheduled to be cleared out for good over the course of the day.

The Seattle Fire Department said one adult male suffered life-threatening injuries, and another suffered minor injuries. Police said they didn't know if the men lived in the camp.

Seattle police chief Kathleen O'Toole said preliminary information indicated the shooting wasn't related to the sweeps.

A small number of protesters showed up during a WSDOT press conference Tuesday morning detailing the plans to sweep the area to clear out homeless people living there.
