Seahawks have released cornerback Cary Williams two weeks after he was benched

SEATTLE – The Seattle Seahawks confirmed Monday afternoon that they released cornerback Cary Williams, two weeks after he was benched in the third quarter of a win over the 49ers.

Williams hasn’t played since. He was inactive against the Vikings and Steelers despite being healthy.

Williams signed a three-year, $18 million deal in the offseason, $7 million of which was guaranteed.

Williams, 30, was released by the Eagles last March.

The NFL's Ian Rapoport broke the news on Twitter.
