Renton mother and son earn their high school diplomas together

KENT, Wash. -- A Renton mother and son made history Thursday night, by earning their high school diplomas from Renton Technical College together.

Enjoli Harris says she always regretted dropping out of high school before graduation. But after she became pregnant with her son Elijah, she couldn’t keep up with her classes.

This year as she watched Elijah get ready for graduation, she decided to finish up her last six credits and get her diploma, too.

Enjoli says she worried about stealing the spotlight away from Elijah, but he said he wanted to share the graduation stage with her. He says what she accomplished after all this time is an inspiration.
