PUYALLUP, Wash. -- Police in Puyallup say they shot a serial robber after he pulled out a gun.
According to Puyallup police, officers responded around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday to an armed robbery at the Denny's Restaurant in the 600 block of South Hill Park Drive.
A pursuit followed and they say the car the robber was in crashed when the officers tried to take the suspect in custody. Police say the suspect pulled out a shotgun and that's when the suspect was shot by a Puyallup officer.
The wound is serious but not considered life-threatening. Meridian Street was expected to remain closed through 9 a.m. under SR 512 for the investigation.
Police say the serial robber has committed at least 10 robberies in Pierce County. He was identified as a 37-year-old man from Tacoma.
Officers also arrested the driver, a 39-year-old man from Pierce County.
