Police searching for suspect who stabbed man on Olympia Woodland Trail

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Authorities are looking for a stabbing suspect who seriously injured a man on the Olympia Woodland Trail.

The Olympian reports that the victim was taken to a hospital with serious injuries to his abdomen after the Wednesday incident. Police say he is expected to recover.

Officers had arrived at the scene to find the victim near the trail on a sidewalk.

Lt. Paul Lower says the stabbing took place around 3 p.m. in an area off the trail and underneath the road. It is unclear if the victim knew his attacker.

The entire trail was closed off while police tried to locate the suspect, but their search was unsuccessful.

The trail has since reopened.
