Police identify Tacoma officers involved in deadly shooting

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — Tacoma police have released the names of two officers involved in a fatal shooting.

The News Tribune reports that Officer Scott Campbell, 30, opened fire at Jacqueline Salyers on Jan. 28. He and his partner, 33-year-old Aaron Joseph, were placed on administrative leave but have since returned to work.

Police say the officers approached Salyers in her vehicle because a passenger in her car had outstanding warrants.

They say Salyers accelerated toward the officers, causing the officers to shoot.

Salyers was shot at least once and died at the scene. Her passenger Kenneth Wright ran from the scene.

He was arrested Sunday at a home in Tacoma.

Wright is being held in lieu of $2.5 million bail for three criminal cases. He faces the possibility of life in prison without parole.
