Police: Drunk driver runs stop sign, hits patrol car injuring two Pierce County deputies

TACOMA, Washington -- A driver, suspected of being drunk, hit a Pierce County Sheriffs deputy’s car early Friday morning injuring the two deputies inside and totaling the patrol car.

Pierce County Detective Ed Troyer said both deputies were treated at the hospital, but released.

As for the driver of the car that hit the deputies, Troyer said the driver was three times the legal blood alcohol limit.

“I’m told the drunk driver went through a stop sign,” said Troyer via email to Q13 FOX.

The crash happened around 1:15 am at South Tacoma Way and South Trafton Street in the Nalley Valley area of Tacoma.
