Police: 1 victim, 3 suspects shot in apparent armed robbery in Tumwater

TUMWATER, Wash. -- Authorities say at least four men were shot in an apparent armed robbery in Tumwater, just south of Olympia.

Police were called to the 200 block of Gerth St. SW in Tumwater around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. When they arrived on scene they heard two gunshots and saw people coming out of the home.

Police said there were five people inside the home at the time of the incident -- one woman and four men. Four of the people live in the home and another was visiting, police said.

Three black men entered the home at about 2:30 a.m. and demanded that one of the victims remove money from a safe. An 18-year-old resident was shot by one of the suspects, police said. At that point, another resident pulled out a gun and fired at the suspects, hitting at least two of them. The third suspect also sustained a gunshot wound, police said, but it's unclear who shot him.

All three suspects are in custody and receiving medical treatment for their injuries at St. Peter and Harborview Medical Center. The 18-year-old victim is also hospitalized.

The victims were identified as an 18-year-old male Tumwater resident, 34-year-old male Tumwater resident, 18-year-old male Tumwater resident, a 52-year-old female Tumwater resident, and one additional man.

Tumwater Police Sgt. Jen Kolb says five weapons were found on the property.

Harborview spokeswoman Susan Gregg says both men are in serious condition but their injuries are not considered life-threatening. She says one man is 29, and the other is in his 30s.
