One arrested, one injured after Shelton robbery

A Shelton man is in jail after an attack and robbery left another man injured late Friday night.

Officers were called to a home on the 200 block of Arcadia Avenue around 11 p.m. on a report of a robbery. Shelton Police Lt. Les Watson said that they arrived to find a 26-year-old man with visible injuries to his head.

The man told police that he had been attacked by another man with a crowbar. The suspect took the victim’s cell phone and cash, and then fled the area. The man refused medical treatment at the scene, Watson said.

Watson said that investigators learned that the suspect was likely at the nearby Little Creek Casino. They went to the casino and found 29-year-old Janus Afo there, as was expected. Afo was arrested and taken to the Mason County Jail, where he was booked for 1st Degree Robbery, 2nd Degree Assault and Felony Harassment.

Afo and the victim were known to each other, Watson said.
