New study ranks Seattle drivers among worst in the country

SEATTLE -- A new study seems to confirm what many people in the area have been saying for years -- Seattle drivers are pretty awful!

The study was put out Wednesday by the insurance company Allstate.

Every year the company ranks the 200 largest cities in the United States, based on accident frequency -- or, how often the average person has an accident. In Seattle, it's every 6.9 years. That puts Seattle at No. 184, out of 200.

That means there are only 16 big cities in the country with worse drivers.

And that's down 11 spots from last year, so the ranking is even worse then before.

We asked the traffic experts at INRIX what makes Seattle drivers so terrible...

By the way, the best drivers in the U.S. can be found in Cape Coral, Fla.; Fort Collins, Colo.; Boise, Idaho; Brownsville, Texas; and Kansas City, Kan.

According to Allstate, the worst drivers in the U.S. are in Springfield, Mass.; Washington, D.C.; Baltimore, Md.; and Worcester, Mass.

So just avoid driving in Massachusetts at all costs -- they have three cities in the bottom five.
