Neiman Marcus says hackers breached credit card data

Another major retailer has been hit by hackers.

“Neiman Marcus was informed by our credit card processor in mid-December of potentially unauthorized payment card activity that occurred following customer purchases at our Neiman Marcus Group stores,” the company said in statement Saturday.

“We have begun to contain the intrusion and have taken significant steps to further enhance information security,” the statement said.

The luxury chain also posted a tweet Saturday saying it was “notifying” customers about the problem.

The breach happened around the same time that Target was hacked.

News of this latest security breach came as Target announced the problems there were much worse than originally stated.

According to a statement released by Target Friday, up to 70 million customers had their personal information stolen.

The store had previously reported 40 million customers had been hacked.

Neiman Marcus has said it’s too soon to know if the two incidents were related.
