Both directions of State Route 106 are closed Wednesday morning after a mudslide along Hood Canal in Mason County.

The Washington State Department of Transportation said trees came down in an overnight slide at milepost 6 near Union.

Drivers are advised to take alternate routes as crews clear up the roadway.

Traffic officials did not say when the road would reopen and said daylight will give them a chance to evaluate what’s needed to reopen.
