Morning crash kills 1 on I-90, shuts westbound lanes for hours

NORTH BEND -- One person was killed in a crash early Saturday morning on Interstate 90 near North Bend.

The single-car crash was reported around 5 a.m. near State Route 202 at exit 31. Washington State Department of Transportation officials said one man was killed in the crash. No one else was reported injured.

All lanes of westbound I-90 were closed for more than two hours, and a detour was in place. Two lanes were reopened by 8:40 a.m., and the highway was completely reopen a short time later.

What led to the crash was not immediately reported.

A woman stuck in the traffic back-up went into labor while waiting, officials said. Fortunately, officials reached the woman and took her to the hospital where she and the child are expected to be fine.
