More than 4,000 without power in West Seattle

Seattle City Light

Thousands of people are without power in West Seattle as windstorm damage continues to batter western Washington.

Seattle City Light’s outage map reports 4,440 customers have lost power after a tree fell and damaged city equipment.

The city expects to have power restored by 5:48 p.m.

In the greater Seattle area, as many as 45,000 people lost power, which Puget Sound Energy attributes to the windstorm, with strong winds, wet soil and stressed trees that still have leaves leading to conditions where trees and branches more easily fall off and damage equipment.

High wind advisories continue through Tuesday.
