Missing ultra-distance runner found in Oregon after 3 day search

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — A long-distance runner who went missing on Friday in Jacksonville has been found safe.

The Medford Mail Tribune reports that 37-year-old Dr. Ashley Laird went out for a run Friday morning and wasn't heard from again until Sunday evening. She was found by a cre4w of searchers that included her father.

Laird was dehydrated and suffered minor bruising and scraping, but police say she appeared to have no severe injuries.

According to her family, Laird is an accomplished ultra-distance runner who won the 2014 American River 50-mile run.

Laird had neither a cellphone nor a GPS watch with her when she went missing but searchers were able to analyze her previous running routes to figure out where to look.

Had Laird not been found, emergency officials were prepared to scale back their search.
