Medical school plan advances in Legislature despite dispute
OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — The state Senate Ways and Means Committee approved changing a law Tuesday to allow Washington State University to start a medical school in Spokane.
Currently that's restricted to a University of Washington program, but WSU dropped out with its own plan to train more doctors in Spokane.
The Spokesman-Review reports lawmakers warned both universities to resolve their dispute.
Spokane medical school legislation also has passed higher education committees in the both the state House and Senate.
