MARYSVILLE, Wash. -- Marysville police responding to a report of a "suicidal male acting irrationally" shot and killed a man outside a home in the 11300 block of 57th Avenue Northeast Tuesday night, police said.
No officers were hurt, said police spokesman Aaron Snell.
According to a news release, the man's wife called police about 8 p.m. Tuesday and said her husband was suicidal, aggressive and had a knife. Shortly after officers arrived, shots were fired inside the home. Investigators said the man tried to stab his wife when he saw police.
Investigators said they recovered a knife at the scene.
The man, who appeared to be in his late 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Six Marysville Police officers were at the scene, but only three of them were involved in the shooting. The three officers will be placed on administrative leave, per department policy.
