Man shot, wounded in White Center; gunman flees

WHITE CENTER -- A man walked up to a driver sitting in a parked car with friends in White Center Monday night and shot him, a King County sheriff's deputy said.

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A deputy said the victim was sitting in a parked car smoking marijuana with three other males in the 10300 block of 28th SW when a man approached them. When the driver confronted the man, the pedestrian pulled out a gun, shot him and fled.

The sheriff's office used K-9 units to try to track the gunman, but failed to find him.

The sheriff's office said it was a possible robbery attempt.
