Man injured during Edmonds home invasion robbery

EDMONDS, Wash. – There were terrifying moments in Edmonds after four men barged into a home and tried robbing a young couple.

Police said gunshots were fired during the home invasion Friday, and the suspects are still on the loose.

Cops believe the four suspects fled the scene driving an older model, maroon-colored Jaguar XJ6 sedan.

Two people were inside the apartment during the home invasion; one of them had to be taken to the hospital with a minor head injury.

Neighbors in the quiet south Edmonds community said they knew exactly what to do when they heard gunshots.

“We locked the door, made sure nobody could get in there and then hunkered down,” said neighbor Robert Lee.

Robert and his wife, Mimi, live across the street from where the home invasion happened on 81st Avenue West.

Police said the victim, a 22-year-old man, called 911 Friday afternoon after the strange men burst through his front door, but he wasn’t able to tell police much about their appearance.

“They were covered,” said Shari Ireton, spokeswoman for  the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. “We don’t really have anything more, other than they were believed to be male.”

Police recovered several knives and a firearm at the scene.

Neighbors are just thankful nobody was seriously hurt.

“Glad to see everyone’s OK and nobody’s dead,” said Robert. “That’s what I’m concerned about.”

A canine officer failed to find any clues on Friday afternoon; the scene was then taken over by detectives from the major crimes unit.
