Man hit by car near downtown suffers life-threatening injuries; police investigating

SEATTLE -- A 49-year-old man hit by a car Wednesday morning near downtown was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, emergency workers said.

The Seattle Fire Department said the man was hit near the intersection of Boren Avenue and Virginia Street. He suffered "significant" head injuries and was taken to Harborview Medical Center.



Citizens on the scene initiated CPR, fire officials said, until emergency workers could arrive. It was unknown if the driver of the car was injured.

Police are investigating the crash.
