Man dies during dive in Hood Canal

HOODSPORT, Wash. – A man died while diving in Hood Canal on Sunday morning, in the same area where a rescue happened last week.

Mason County Sheriff Lt. Travis Adams said that deputies and medics were called to the dive area, near Hoodsport, around 10 a.m. The man had become unconscious during a dive, and was quickly pulled the water. CPR was attempted, but the man died at the scene.

Deputies will remain at the dive location into the afternoon investigating the circumstances of the death. Adams said that the man was in his early 50s.
