Man charged with vehicular homicide in Bremerton bus stop crash

PORT ORCHARD, Wash. (AP) — Prosecutors have charged a 23-year-old man with vehicular homicide and vehicular assault after a Thursday crash that killed a woman and hurt a man at a Bremerton bus stop.

The Kitsap Sun reports 23-year-old Calob Courtney was charged in the death of 31-year-old Margaret "Maggie" Parnell and vehicular assault of a 63-year-old Bremerton man.

Police say Parnell and the man were sitting at the bus stop when Courtney left the roadway and struck it, hitting both of them.

Police found Courtney sitting outside his car smoking a cigarette. Courtney allegedly told an officer he had smoked meth and marijuana before the collision.

The 63-year-old man remains at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Tacoma in critical condition.

Courtney remains in jail on $500,000 bail.
