Man arrested after hours-long standoff with police

TACOMA - A wanted felon is in custody this morning after an hours-long standoff with police.

Tacoma Police say they attempted to arrest the man around 7 p.m. last night on an outstanding assault charge at a home in the 1500 block of S. 35th St.

The man refused to come out, so SWAT was called in because police believed the man to be armed and dangerous.

A second occupant in the home came out voluntarily and was not harmed.

Police attempted to negotiate with the man, and eventually deployed pepper spray into the home, causing the man to come outside.

The man was then taken into custody without further incident.
