Longview plans to ship recyclables to Asia

LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) — The city of Longview plans to sell and ship its recycled bottles, cardboard and other materials to Asia.

The city's trash and recycling contractor, Waste Control Inc., says it will soon start selling the recyclables it collects in Longview to buyers in Asia.

The Longview Daily News reports that the Longview City Council approved the recycling changes last week.

The city's recycling compliance manager, Gregg Hannon, says the move will bring in revenue from selling recyclables as well as save on sorting charges.
