Huskies defeat ASU 76-65 in Pac-12 opener

TEMPE, Ariz -- Senior C.J. Wilcox scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Huskies to their eighth-straight win over Arizona State in their Pac-12 opener Thursday night.  The score was 76-65.

Wilcox was one of five Huskies to finish the game with double digits and posted his 16th-straight 15-plus scoring effort.

After a little bit of a slow start trailing ASU, 16-10, UW went on a 20-4 over seven minutes in the first half before heading into halftime up 40-23. The Huskies shot 51.6 percent in the first half while holding the Sun Devils to a mere 29 percent, including a 10 percent mark from the 3-point line.

The Huskies led by 24 at one point in the second half before head coach Lorenzo Romar rested his starting lineup.

UW improved to 9-5 and 1-0 in Pac-12 play and now heads to face the No. 1 Arizona Wildcats on Saturday at 11 a.m.
