Humane society offers reward for information about starved, abandoned dog found in South Seattle

SEATTLE -- The Humane Society of the United States is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the abandonment of a dog found severely starved in south Seattle last week.

The dog was found by a construction worker Friday at a new apartment complex in the 1100 block of 14th Avenue South, the Seattle Animal Shelter said. It was found starving, and left outside in nighttime temperatures well below freezing.

"Leaving any animal without food, water or shelter is an egregious act of animal cruelty and it is a crime," said Ann Graves, manager of field services at the Seattle Animal Shelter.

First-degree animal cruelty is a Class C felony punishable by five years in prison, a $10,000 fine or both.

If you recognize the dog or know who is responsible for leaving this dog at the construction site, please call Graves at 206-386-4288 and reference case number 14-23782. Any information about this dog is vital to solving this case.
