Gas wars! Prices plummet to $1.88 in Lakewood, $1.65 in Cle Elum - and 47 cents in Michigan

SEATTLE – Prices plummeted around the Washington and the rest of the country as plunging oil prices sparked gas price wars.

A gallon of regular unleaded dipped below $2 on in many places, but a price war in Cle Elum was particularly good for consumers as many gas stations were selling for $1.65 a gallon shortly after noon on Monday.

On the west side of the mountains, prices dipped to $1.88 at a Shell station in Lakewood, and $1.83 at a Texaco in Shelton.

In Seattle, the lowest price was $2.10 at the Sam’s Club on Aurora Ave. N., and in Tacoma it was $1.89 at the Costco on S. 37th and S. Steele.

There are also price wars underway in Toppenish, Wapato and George.

The battle was most extreme in Houghton Lake, Mich., where the Beacon and Bridge Market was selling a gallon of regular for 47 cents.
