POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — A southeastern Idaho man who entered an apartment and threatened two people with a machete before being shot has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Fifty-four-year-old Twain Thomas of Pocatello received the sentence Thursday in 6th District Court and must serve five years before becoming eligible for parole.

He previously pleaded guilty to one count of second degree attempted murder as well as aggravated assault.

Police say that Thomas on Feb. 22 entered an upstairs apartment in Pocatello and threatened two people with a machete.

Police say he then entered a downstairs apartment and threatened two other people, but one of the residents shot him in the upper torso.

One of the residents, James Cvengro, captured the terrifying moments Thomas broke through his apartment door on video.
