First freeze & water pipes: Experts say winterizing can save homeowners money

SEATTLE -- With cold weather moving through Western Washington, homeowners are reminded to winterize their pipes. Each winter, frozen water pipes burst and damage homes.

Seattle Public Utilities offers these tips:




    "It's worth it when you look at potentially losing thousands in a home flood due to pipes freezing," said Karen Rich with the “Take Winter By Storm” campaign.

    Experts say it is also important to know where the water shut-off valve is located.
