First day of winter could bring another foot of snow to Cascades
SNOQUALMIE PASS - The first day of winter will greet drivers going over the Cascades passes with up to a foot of new snow. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory for snow from 4 am Monday to 2 am Tuesday PST.
The snow level will be around 2000 feet with new snowfall between 6 to 11 inches, the NWS reported.
On Monday and Tuesday the passes will get another 30 inches of new snow, on top of the 3 feet that has fallen lately, according to Q13 News meterologist Walter Kelley.
The chance for a white Christmas is slim; the last time snow was on the ground for Christmas was 2008, Walter said.
