Fire erupts at Carolina Panthers coach Ron Rivera's home

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Carolina coach Ron Rivera's house was significantly damaged in an early morning fire Monday, but no one was injured.

Team spokesman Charlie Dayton says Rivera, his wife Stephanie and visiting family members were inside their Charlotte home at the time of the blaze. Rivera says he smelled smoke and heard smoke detectors going off. Everyone was able to get out of the home safely.

The Panthers are getting ready to face Seattle in the NFC divisional playoff game Saturday.
